In a notable achievement that underscores its commitment to India's automotive sector, Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) has been recognized as the ‘Automobile: Top Exporter’ for the fiscal year 2025-26 by the Mumbai Port Authority. This accolade reflects the company's exceptional export performance, having shipped over 40,000 vehicles through Mumbai Port during this period.

The award was presented to Amit Madan, Vice President – Logistics Region India, by Dr. M. Angamuthu, Chairperson of the Mumbai Port Authority, at the Business Conclave with Partners. This event celebrated SAVWIPL's success and its pivotal role in reinforcing India's position as a global automotive manufacturing and export hub. Mumbai Port serves as a critical gateway for the company, facilitating efficient access to global markets and bolstering India's strategic importance in Škoda Auto Volkswagen’s international operations.

This recognition isn’t new for SAVWIPL, as it was also honored as the ‘Top Exporter 2023-2024’ by the same authority. The consistent acknowledgment of its export prowess highlights SAVWIPL’s steady growth and commitment to the ‘Make in India’ initiative, having shipped over 725,000 Indian-made vehicles to diverse markets across Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and North America.

“Being recognised once again by the Mumbai Port Authority is a proud moment for all of us at SAVWIPL. This award is a validation of our strong export momentum and our teams’ relentless focus on quality, reliability, and operational excellence across the value chain,”

Piyush Arora, Managing Director & CEO, Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited

The vehicles playing a major role in these export achievements include Fully Built Units (FBUs) like the Volkswagen Taigun, Virtus, Škoda Kushaq, and Slavia. These models have been pivotal in establishing a robust export portfolio, demonstrating the manufacturing prowess and quality standards upheld by Škoda Auto Volkswagen India.

Beyond just exporting fully built vehicles, SAVWIPL is expanding its export portfolio to include parts and components. This strategic move supports local assembly operations in various markets, further enhancing India's role in the company's global industrial footprint. The expansion into parts and components not only diversifies the export offerings but also aligns with the evolving customer needs and regulatory frameworks in different regions.

SAVWIPL’s recent entry into the Sri Lankan market marks another milestone in its export journey. This expansion is part of the company's long-term growth strategy, aiming to explore new markets and opportunities. By leveraging India's manufacturing capabilities and strategic location, SAVWIPL continues to strengthen its position as a key player in the global automotive landscape.

The accolades from the Mumbai Port Authority are not just about numbers; they represent the company's ability to deliver quality and reliability on a global scale. SAVWIPL’s commitment to operational excellence and its ability to adapt to changing market conditions are critical factors that have driven its success in the export domain.

Looking to the future, SAVWIPL plans to continue capitalizing on its ‘Make in India, for India and the World’ vision. By staying agile and responsive to global automotive trends, the company is well-positioned to maintain its status as a leading exporter and continue contributing to India's burgeoning reputation as a global automotive hub.
