MG Majestor D+ SUV: A Bold New Contender in the Full-Size SUV Segment
In a strategic move to redefine the full-size SUV segment, JSW MG Motor India has unveiled the MG Majestor, poised to become a flagship model above the Gloster. Scheduled for an official launch in April 2026, the Majestor aims to create a niche as India's first D+ SUV, boasting impressive dimensions and a suite of advanced features.
First introduced as a concept at the Bharat Mobility Expo in January 2025, the Majestor now enters the production phase. Positioned as the longest, widest, and tallest in its class, this SUV is set to offer a more spacious and premium alternative to traditional D-segment SUVs. Pre-bookings for the Majestor have commenced with a token amount of â¹41,000, and deliveries are expected to start in May 2026.
Design and Dimensions
The Majestor's design exudes dominance with its commanding road presence. The front features a Majestic Matrix Combination Grille, flanked by Falcon-style LED DRLs and vertically stacked headlamps. Its side profile is accentuated by strong shoulder lines and sizable 19-inch alloy wheels, while the rear showcases connected LED tail lamps and twin exhaust outlets. These elements come together to create a bold and sophisticated look, distinct from its predecessor, the Gloster.
Measuring 5,046 mm in length, 2,016 mm in width, and 1,870 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,950 mm, the Majestor is designed to maximize interior space and comfort. It offers seating configurations for six or seven passengers and generous cargo capacity, starting at 343 litres and expandable to over 1,350 litres with the second row folded. The Majestor's 219 mm ground clearance and 810 mm wading depth underscore its off-road capabilities.
Feature-Packed Interior
The Majestor's cabin is a testament to luxury and technology. It includes powered and ventilated seats for both front and rear passengers, a three-zone climate control system, and 12.3-inch dual digital displays. The premium JBL Studio 12 sound system, twin wireless charging pads, and a Digital Bluetooth Key enhance the tech-savvy experience.
Additional features include a large Galaxy Roof panoramic sunroof, 64-colour ambient lighting, and a 12-way powered driver's seat with massaging capabilities. Passengers will appreciate the 220V 3-pin socket, powered tailgate, and 75+ advanced i-Smart connected car features. Safety is paramount, with 30+ standard safety features and the expected inclusion of Level 2 ADAS.
Performance and Powertrain
Under the hood, the Majestor is powered by a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine capable of generating 215.5 PS and 478.5 Nm of torque. This engine is available with both 4WD and 2WD configurations, paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The Majestor's off-road prowess is further enhanced by the M-Hub off-road suite, 4X4 transfer case, and three locking differentialsâa segment-first feature.
The vehicle offers up to 10 off-road modes, with automatic switching between 2H and 4H gears, and features M-Crawl mode for challenging terrains. The Majestor will be available in three variants: Sharp 4X2, Savvy 4X2, and Savvy 4X4, with color options including Metal Black, Pearl White, Concrete Grey, and Metal Ash.
Positioning and Market Strategy
MG has clarified that the Majestor will complement the Gloster rather than replace it, aiming to capture the attention of buyers in the â¹45â50 lakh price bracket. This positions the Majestor as a direct competitor to established models like the Toyota Fortuner and Skoda Kodiaq.
With its bold design, comprehensive feature set, and advanced capabilities, the MG Majestor represents a significant step forward in MG's strategy for the Indian market. By introducing the D+ SUV category, MG Motor India is poised to strengthen its foothold in the full-size SUV segment, offering a compelling choice for discerning buyers seeking space, luxury, and performance.
