Classic Legends has expanded its scrambler motorcycle lineup in India with the launch of two exciting models: the Yezdi Scrambler and the BSA Scrambler 650. With prices starting at ₹1,99,950 for the Yezdi and ₹3,24,950 for the BSA, these motorcycles aim to capture the essence of classic scramblers while offering modern performance and versatility.

Yezdi Scrambler: A Modern Classic

The Yezdi Scrambler marks the return of the brand's third variant, joining the Adventure and Roadster models in its lineup. Positioned as a lightweight and versatile motorcycle, the Yezdi Scrambler is designed for riders seeking a balance between city commuting and weekend trail adventures.

At the heart of the Yezdi Scrambler is the new 334cc ‘Katar’ engine, which delivers 30 PS of power at 8,100 rpm and 30 Nm of torque at 6,750 rpm. Paired with a six-speed gearbox and featuring an assist and slipper clutch, this liquid-cooled engine is known for its '30-30-30' setup, signifying its 30 PS power, 30 Nm torque, and approximately 30 km/l fuel efficiency. The engine is designed to offer robust low- and mid-range performance, essential for both city and off-road riding.

The Yezdi Scrambler features a dual cradle frame, with suspension duties managed by telescopic front forks offering 150 mm travel and twin rear shock absorbers with 130 mm travel, adjustable for preload. The braking setup includes a 320 mm front disc and a 240 mm rear disc, both equipped with dual-channel ABS and traction control with three riding modes: Road, Rain, and Off-road.

Weighing in at 174 kg, the Yezdi Scrambler is among the lighter bikes in its category. It rides on spoked wheels with semi-knobby tyres (19-inch front, 17-inch rear) and offers a ground clearance of 200 mm, making it suitable for rough terrains. The bike's design retains classic scrambler elements such as a raised front beak, compact tail section, and a ribbed single-piece seat. It also comes with a digital instrument cluster, LED headlight, and signature LED tail lamps. Available in four colour options—Legacy Black, OG Yellow, Rogue Red, and Rally Blue—the Yezdi Scrambler is tailored for those looking for a stylish yet functional motorcycle.

BSA Scrambler 650: Heritage Meets Modernity

The BSA Scrambler 650, priced at ₹3,24,950, brings a touch of British heritage to the Indian motorcycle scene. Designed to evoke the classic scrambler spirit, it draws inspiration from iconic BSA models such as the Gold Star Catalina and the A65 Firebird.

This motorcycle is powered by a 652cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine, which produces 45 PS at 6,500 rpm and 55 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. The engine's strong low-end torque is ideal for both urban commutes and highway cruising. Coupled with a five-speed gearbox, the BSA Scrambler 650 offers a relaxed yet responsive riding experience.

Built on a robust chassis, the BSA Scrambler 650 features a long-travel suspension setup with 41 mm telescopic forks at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. Braking is handled by a 320 mm front disc with a Brembo twin-piston caliper and a 255 mm rear disc, supported by single-piston caliper and ABS. With a kerb weight of 208 kg and a seat height of 820 mm, the bike is accessible while offering adequate capability for light off-road adventures.

In terms of design, the BSA Scrambler 650 sports a sculpted fuel tank with chrome accents, a flat ribbed bench seat, and an exposed subframe, embodying a retro scrambler stance. It rides on wire-spoke wheels with semi-knobby tyres, reinforcing its dual-purpose intent. The bike is available in three colours: Raven Black, Victor Yellow, and Thunder Grey.

Expanding the Scrambler Segment

Classic Legends aims to strengthen its presence in the scrambler category with these new launches, catering to different engine capacities and rider preferences. The Yezdi Scrambler targets the 350 cc segment, known for its demand among new riders and city commuters, while the BSA Scrambler 650 appeals to enthusiasts seeking a premium, heritage-inspired machine.

Anupam Thareja, co-founder of Classic Legends, likens scramblers to SUVs in terms of versatility, stating, "Scramblers will redefine Indian riding culture the way SUVs redefined passenger four-wheelers. They are the SUVs of motorcycling." This sentiment reflects the company's strategy to position scramblers as ideal for mixed usage, with capabilities extending beyond urban environments to highways and off-road trails.

With the introduction of these models, Classic Legends is set to capture a significant share of the rapidly growing scrambler market in India, estimated to account for about 5% of the 350 cc motorcycle segment, which totals around 100,000 units monthly.

Both the Yezdi and BSA scramblers offer a blend of style, performance, and versatility, appealing to a wide range of riders. As the scrambler segment continues to grow, these motorcycles represent a significant step forward for Classic Legends in establishing a strong foothold in this niche market.
