Volkswagen Taigun Facelift: Enhanced Design and Tech for the Indian Market
Volkswagen India has officially unveiled the refreshed Taigun, a popular SUV that now comes packed with 40 new features aimed at enhancing the driving experience for Indian customers. The Taigun, known for its robust build quality and safety credentials, now boasts a more modern and premium look, along with significant upgrades in technology and comfort.
Design Updates: Bold and Distinctive
The new Taigun sports a bolder design with noticeable changes to both the front and rear. Its updated front fascia features a clean grille adorned with a first-in-segment illuminated Volkswagen logo, paired with a connecting light band. These elements not only enhance the SUV's visual appeal, especially at night, but also align with Volkswagen’s global design language.
At the rear, the Taigun now incorporates full-width LED tail lamps with sequential turn indicators, offering a sophisticated touch. The redesigned bumper and the new alloy wheel designs add to the SUV’s sporty stance. Volkswagen has introduced two new premium colours—Avocado Pearl and Steel Grey—alongside existing shades like Wild Cherry Red and Reflex Silver.
Interior and Technology: Intuitive and Connected
Inside, the Taigun continues to impress with its refreshed interiors featuring storm grey trim and upgraded upholstery. The SUV is equipped with a 10.1-inch infotainment system that supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, enhancing connectivity on the go. A new 10.25-inch digital cockpit with configurable views provides drivers with real-time information and navigation.
Volkswagen has also integrated a voice assistant powered by Google’s Automotive AI, making it easier for drivers to control various functions using natural speech. Additionally, the Volkswagen Sound System, complete with an amplifier and sub-woofer, ensures an immersive audio experience.
Performance Enhancements: Smooth and Efficient
Under the hood, the Taigun offers two turbocharged petrol engine options: a 1.0-litre TSI and a 1.5-litre TSI. The 1.0-litre engine, now paired with a first-in-segment 8-speed automatic transmission, delivers 85 kW of power and 178 Nm of torque, promising smoother shifts and improved fuel efficiency. Meanwhile, the 1.5-litre engine produces 110 kW and 250 Nm, coupled with a 7-speed DSG gearbox featuring Active Cylinder Technology for optimized efficiency.
Rear disc brakes on the 1.5 TSI variants ensure confident stopping power, complementing the SUV’s dynamic performance.
Safety: A Priority
Maintaining its commitment to safety, Volkswagen has equipped the Taigun with six airbags as standard across all variants, contributing to its 5-star Global NCAP safety rating. The SUV includes over 40 active and passive safety features such as Electronic Stability Control, Hill Hold Control, and Multi-Collision Brakes.
Front and rear parking sensors, accompanied by acoustic and optical feedback, assist in making every parking maneuver effortless and secure.
Variants and Features: Broad Choices
The new Taigun is available in an expanded lineup featuring Comfortline, Highline, Highline Plus, Topline, and GT trims. Each variant offers unique features tailored to different customer preferences. Notable features include a panoramic sunroof, front ventilated seats, and a 6-way electric driver seat, all enhancing everyday usability.
Standard across all variants is the smart touch Climatronic AC, ensuring a comfortable cabin environment in any weather. Additionally, a rear windshield wiper with intermittent control and a heated rear windshield add to the convenience and practicality of the vehicle.
As Volkswagen rolls out the updated Taigun, it aims to reinforce its position in the mid-size SUV segment in India. With its blend of design, technology, and performance, the Taigun is poised to cater to customers seeking a dynamic and feature-rich driving experience.
