<p>Maruti Suzuki India Limited has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Transport Department of the Government of Andhra Pradesh to automate four driving license test tracks. This initiative, part of Maruti Suzuki's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, aims to enhance the driving license testing process across the state with advanced technology.</p><p>The new Automated Driving Test Tracks (ADTTs) will be established in the cities of Eluru, Ongole, Vizianagaram, and Anakapalli. These tracks will cater to applicants of Light Motor Vehicles (LMV), Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMV), and Two-Wheelers (TW). The Ongole track will specifically accommodate HMV testing, in addition to LMV and TW.</p><h3>Advanced Technology for Objective Testing</h3><p>The ADTTs are designed to employ high-definition cameras, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) sensors, real-time analytics, and an integrated IT system. This setup ensures a technology-driven, standardized, and objective testing process that complies with the Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR). The process is fully automated, eliminating human intervention to ensure transparent and fair testing. Test results are generated automatically, providing an efficient and unbiased assessment of driving skills.</p><p>Mr. Hisashi Takeuchi, MD &amp; CEO of Maruti Suzuki India Limited, expressed his enthusiasm for the project: “During my meeting with the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Shri Chandrababu Naidu, I was impressed by his love for technology. Aligned with his vision for technology-led solutions, we are honored to bring 4 Automated Driving Test Tracks (ADTTs) to the state of Andhra Pradesh.”</p><h3>Government and Corporate Collaboration</h3><p>As part of the agreement, Maruti Suzuki will be responsible for the automation and maintenance of these tracks for a period of three years from the date of commissioning. The Transport Department will provide the necessary infrastructure, undertake civil works, and ensure security and electricity supply. They will also conduct driving tests and issue driving licenses using the automated system.</p><p>Shri Manish Kumar Sinha, IPS, the Transport Commissioner of Andhra Pradesh, commended Maruti Suzuki's contribution to road safety. He noted that the automation of driving test tracks is expected to enhance uniformity and objectivity in the testing process, thereby improving road safety by ensuring that only skilled drivers receive licenses.</p><h3>Maruti Suzuki’s Commitment to Road Safety</h3><p>This initiative is a part of Maruti Suzuki's broader commitment to road safety, which is guided by the principles of the 5Es: Engineering, Education, Evaluation, Enforcement, and Emergency Care. The company has been a pioneer in automating driving test tracks, having already established 46 ADTTs across seven states including Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, and Jammu &amp; Kashmir.</p><p>In 2025, Maruti Suzuki also signed agreements to set up additional ADTTs in Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu, expanding their footprint to 81 tracks nationwide. The company’s efforts are further complemented by the establishment of eight Institutes of Driving and Traffic Research (IDTRs) and 23 Road Safety Knowledge Centres (RSKCs) in collaboration with various state governments.</p><p>Moreover, Maruti Suzuki implements Integrated Traffic Safety Management System (ITMS) projects that involve real-time monitoring and surveillance to support law enforcement and promote disciplined driving behavior. They also offer First Responder training to commercial drivers and stakeholders, enhancing emergency care on the roads.</p><p>Through these initiatives, Maruti Suzuki aims to significantly contribute to road safety and ensure that the process of obtaining a driving license becomes more reliable, efficient, and accessible. The automation of driving test tracks in Andhra Pradesh is a significant step in this direction, underlining the company's dedication to leveraging technology for societal benefit.</p>
