Royal Enfield Debuts Flying Flea C6 Electric Motorcycle
Royal Enfield, a brand synonymous with classic motorcycling in India, has made a significant leap into the future with the launch of its first electric motorcycle, the Flying Flea C6. This marks the debut of Royal Enfield's new sub-brand, Flying Flea, which is set to focus on urban mobility solutions, capturing the essence of modern city commuting while retaining a vintage charm.
The Flying Flea C6 is priced at ₹2.79 lakh (ex-showroom). However, the company offers a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option that reduces the initial cost to ₹1.99 lakh. This innovative pricing model aims to make electric motorcycling more accessible to a wider audience. Bookings and test rides for this new model will commence on April 10, 2026, at Royal Enfield's inaugural showroom dedicated to this sub-brand, located in Jayanagar, Bengaluru. Deliveries are expected to start by the end of May 2026.
Neo-Retro Design with Modern Hardware
Drawing inspiration from the original Flying Flea motorcycles that became popular in the 1940s, the Flying Flea C6 blends the old with the new, creating a neo-retro aesthetic that is both nostalgic and contemporary. It features a streamlined bodywork design that is complemented by unique styling elements, offering a fresh take on the classic look.
A standout feature of the Flying Flea C6 is its forged aluminium girder fork setup, a rarity in modern motorcycles. This is combined with a lightweight construction, as the motorcycle weighs just 124 kg, making it highly maneuverable and ideal for urban environments. The bike is available in two striking colors: Flea Green and Storm Black.
Performance and Battery Capabilities
Under the sleek exterior lies a 3.91 kWh battery pack linked to an electric motor boasting a peak power of 15.4 kW and a torque output of around 60 Nm. This setup allows the Flying Flea C6 to achieve a claimed wheel torque of over 400 Nm, providing substantial acceleration and agility. Riders can reach a top speed of 115 km/h, which is more than adequate for city cruising.
The battery is versatile in its charging options, supporting Rapid, Standard, and Trickle charging modes. Impressively, the battery can be charged from 20% to 80% in just over an hour, and under ideal conditions, it offers approximately 1 km of range per minute of charging. The bike's IDC claimed range is 154 km on a full charge, making it a reliable option for daily commutes.
Advanced Tech and Connectivity
The Flying Flea C6 is not just about performance; it is also packed with advanced technology. The motorcycle includes WiFi, Bluetooth, and 4G connectivity, enabling features such as remote monitoring, navigation support, and over-the-air updates. These connectivity options ensure that the bike remains up-to-date with the latest software enhancements.
For rider safety and convenience, the motorcycle includes lean-angle ABS, traction control, cruise control, and voice assist. Additionally, it offers a unique rotary mode selector and a joystick-controlled TFT interface, allowing for intuitive control and customization of riding modes and other settings.
Royal Enfield's Flying Flea C6 is poised to redefine urban electric mobility with its combination of classic design and modern technology. As the C6 rolls out across cities, starting with Bengaluru, it heralds a new era for Royal Enfield and its foray into the electric motorcycle market.
