The Renault Duster, a name synonymous with adventure and innovation in India, is making a grand comeback with its new-generation model. Set to hit the Indian market in spring 2026, the New Duster is poised to reinforce Renault's commitment to one of the world's most dynamic automotive markets. This reincarnation aims to capture the spirit of adventure while integrating modern design and advanced technology, as part of Renault's International Game Plan 2027.

Design and Performance

The New Duster presents a robust exterior with a focus on off-road capability, featuring a length of 4.35 meters and a ground clearance of 21.2 cm. Its approach and departure angles of 25.7° and 29.2° respectively, underscore its rugged build. A signature trapezoidal grille with chrome trim and LED headlamps enhance its bold look, with the model name 'Duster' prominently replacing the traditional logo on the grille.

Customers can choose from six color options, including the exclusive Jade Mountain Green, inspired by the Himalayan forest. The vehicle also features 17- or 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and a two-tone finish with a gloss black roof, adding to its aesthetic appeal.

Interior and Technology

Inside, the Duster boasts a thoroughly modern cabin with the OpenR twin-screen display, comprising a digital instrument cluster up to 10.25 inches and a 10.1-inch central touchscreen. Comfort is prioritized with variable-density seat structures offering power adjustment and ventilation, alongside a spacious 518-litre boot.

The dual-zone climate control system includes a PM2.5 filter and ionizer, while 33 liters of interior storage ensure practicality. Customizable mood lighting and an Arkamys audio system further enhance the ambiance.

Multimedia and Connectivity

Renault's Duster is the first compact SUV in India to feature built-in Google Automotive Services. Drivers have direct access to Google Maps, Google Assistant, and the Google Play store for seamless integration without a smartphone. A future update will introduce Google Gemini, a conversational AI assistant capable of multitasking and language switching.

The My Renault App offers additional connectivity, allowing remote vehicle control and theft alerts, amplifying the ownership experience.

Powertrains and Safety

  • Full Hybrid E-Tech 160: 160 hp, 172 Nm torque, 1.8L engine with two electric motors, allowing up to 80% city driving in electric mode and a total range of 1,000 km.
  • Turbo TCe 160: 160 hp, 280 Nm torque, 1.3L 4-cylinder engine with a choice of 6-speed manual or 6-speed wet DCT.
  • Turbo TCe 100: 100 hp, 160 Nm torque, 1.0L 3-cylinder engine with a 6-speed manual, optimized for city fuel efficiency.

Safety is a cornerstone of the new model, featuring 17 driving aids as part of Renault's "Human First Program." The suite includes Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Lane Keeping Assist, Automatic Emergency Braking, and a 360° panoramic camera, affirming the Duster's place in higher vehicle segments.

With its scheduled launch in India, the New Duster not only signifies Renault's strategic intent but also solidifies its role as a key player in the evolving SUV market. As Renault continues to innovate and expand its global footprint, the Duster stands as a testament to the brand's enduring appeal and forward-thinking vision.
