In a significant move to reinforce its manufacturing capacity and support future growth, Mahindra Group has announced the establishment of its largest integrated auto and tractor manufacturing facility in Nagpur, Maharashtra. This ambitious project represents a cornerstone of Mahindra's strategic vision to enhance its production capabilities in India, underlining its commitment to the 'Make in India' initiative.

The new facility, set to be developed across 1,500 acres in the Vidarbha region, will include a 150-acre supplier park in Sambhajinagar. This development aligns with Maharashtra's aspiration to become a premier industrial hub, offering distinct advantages such as excellent connectivity via the Samruddhi Expressway and robust rail links. Such strategic positioning enhances Mahindra's access to key domestic and international markets.

Once fully operational, the Nagpur facility is expected to have an impressive annual production capacity of over 500,000 vehicles and 100,000 tractors, making it Mahindra's largest manufacturing footprint in India. The facility will feature advanced automation and digital manufacturing technologies, enabling production across multiple powertrains, including internal combustion engines (ICE), electric vehicles (EV), and other future technologies, catering to both domestic and global markets.

Complementing this setup is the supplier park in Sambhajinagar, designed to bolster the manufacturing value chain through enhanced partner collaboration, improved logistics, and increased localization. This park will support the new facility and existing Mahindra plants in Chakan and Nashik, emphasizing Mahindra's focus on operational efficiency and quality control.

Strategic Investment and Expansion

Mahindra's investment in this project is substantial, committing ₹15,000 crore over the next decade. This investment will also see land acquisition in the Igatpuri-Nashik region to expand current product and engine capacities, as well as to support Mahindra's Advanced Technology business. In total, Mahindra plans to acquire more than 2,000 acres across three locations in Maharashtra, further strengthening its manufacturing footprint.

Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, lauded Mahindra's decision, noting that it reflects the state’s robust industrial ecosystem and progressive policy framework. He emphasized that this landmark investment would generate significant employment opportunities and accelerate regional development in Vidarbha and surrounding areas.

Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director & CEO of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.'s Auto and Farm Sector, highlighted the facility’s role in Mahindra’s manufacturing journey. He stated, \"This facility represents a bold step forward, supporting our next generation of vehicles and tractors, bringing together scale, flexibility, and advanced technology within one integrated footprint.\"

Impact and Future Prospects

This new facility underscores Mahindra's commitment to shaping the future of mobility and farm mechanization. By integrating innovation, sustainability, and global competitiveness, Mahindra aims to contribute meaningfully to India's industrial growth. The Vidarbha facility is expected to play a pivotal role in Mahindra's strategy to enhance its manufacturing capabilities while supporting the evolving needs of the automotive and farm equipment sectors.

Founded in 1945, the Mahindra Group is a leading multinational federation of companies, employing over 324,000 people in more than 100 countries. As the world’s largest tractor company by volume, Mahindra holds a leadership position in farm equipment, utility vehicles, information technology, and financial services in India. The Group's diversified interests also include renewable energy, agriculture, logistics, hospitality, and real estate.

With this extensive new manufacturing setup, Mahindra continues its trajectory of growth, aligning with its vision of innovation-driven development and sustainability, reinforcing its status as a key player in the global automotive and farm equipment industries.
