Kia India Celebrates 500th Workshop Milestone with New Ahmedabad Facility
Kia India has reached a significant milestone by inaugurating its 500th service workshop in the country, located in Chandkheda, Ahmedabad. This development is part of Kia's strategic expansion to strengthen its aftersales service network, now comprising 800 touchpoints across 391 cities. The new facility is one of the largest Kia workshops in India, reflecting the brand's commitment to enhancing customer service and accessibility.
A Major Step in Aftersales Expansion
The inauguration of the 500th workshop marks Kia India's continued dedication to improving aftersales service. The new Ahmedabad facility spans 76,069 square feet, with 41,640 square feet of covered area. It is designed to handle high service throughput with 57 service bays, including dedicated washing bays and ample parking for 100 vehicles. This setup allows the workshop to service up to 40,000 vehicles annually, catering to Kia's growing customer base of over 1.5 million users.
Mr. Gwanggu Lee, Managing Director & CEO of Kia India, expressed pride in the achievement, stating, “The inauguration of our 500th Service Workshop is a proud milestone that reflects our deep commitment to customer-centricity. This achievement is not just about scale, but about ensuring that every Kia customer experiences convenience, transparency, and trust throughout their ownership journey.”
EV Readiness and Digital Integration
As the automotive industry shifts towards electrification, Kia is preparing for a larger share of electrified vehicles in its portfolio. The Ahmedabad workshop is equipped with EV-ready infrastructure, including a 90 kW DC fast charger capable of charging two vehicles simultaneously. This readiness for electric vehicles ensures that Kia can accommodate the future needs of its customers as EV adoption increases.
Beyond infrastructure, Kia is also integrating digital solutions into its aftersales services. Customers can benefit from features like contactless service, RFID-based tracking, and digital vehicle health reports. Real-time service updates are available through the My Kia app, enhancing the overall ownership experience. Additionally, programs like extended warranty and roadside assistance are gaining popularity, further enriching the customer experience.
Sustainability and Green Initiatives
Sustainability is a key focus for Kia, and the new workshop in Ahmedabad is a testament to this commitment. It features a 145 kW solar power generation system, rainwater harvesting, and water recycling systems. These initiatives contribute to Kia's broader green strategy, with 124 green workshops established across India, generating a combined solar capacity of 8.9 MW.
Mr. Baljeet Singh Bagga, Dealer Principal at West Coast Kia, highlighted the importance of these initiatives: “This new workshop represents another meaningful step in bringing the Kia brand closer to our customers, while elevating service accessibility and experience in the region. Guided by Kia’s ethos, we remain committed to setting new benchmarks in customer satisfaction and ownership experience.”
Strengthening the Ownership Experience
Kia India's focus on expanding its service network underscores its commitment to a robust aftersales ecosystem. By enhancing service accessibility, especially in smaller cities and emerging markets, Kia aims to reduce wait times and improve customer satisfaction. The addition of mobile service units further extends Kia's reach, ensuring that every customer can access convenient and reliable service options.
As Kia continues to expand, the emphasis on a sustainable and digitally enabled aftersales service aligns with broader industry trends. The 500th workshop milestone is not just a celebration of growth but a promise of continued innovation and customer focus. As electrification and connected car technology evolve, Kia's service network will play a crucial role in maintaining customer loyalty and brand growth in India.
