BMW F 450 GS Launches in India: Pricing, Specs & Features
BMW Motorrad has officially launched the F 450 GS in India, marking a significant entry into the mid-capacity adventure motorcycle segment. With a starting price of ₹4.70 lakh (ex-showroom), the F 450 GS is offered in three variants: Base, Exclusive, and GS Trophy. Deliveries are set to commence from June 2026. The competitive pricing is attributed to local manufacturing in India, making this model one of the most accessible premium twin-cylinder ADVs on the market.
Powerful New Engine and Transmission
At the core of the F 450 GS is an all-new 450cc twin-cylinder engine that delivers 48 hp at 8,750 rpm and 43 Nm of torque at 6,750 rpm. This engine features a 135-degree offset crankshaft, which not only enhances smoothness but also produces a distinctive exhaust note. The powertrain is complemented by a 6-speed gearbox equipped with Shift Assistant Pro, facilitating clutchless upshifts and downshifts for a seamless riding experience. Moreover, the Easy Ride Clutch (ERC) comes as a segment-first, allowing for stall-free low-speed riding, akin to semi-automatic operation, particularly useful in stop-and-go traffic.
Design and Ergonomics
BMW's iconic GS design language is evident in the F 450 GS, which features an 'X' signature full-LED headlamp and a tall, adventure-ready stance. The motorcycle’s silhouette is defined by the characteristic GS flyline, flowing from the front beak to the slim rear section. This design not only offers aesthetics but also functionality, enhancing off-road capabilities.
The F 450 GS sports a 14-litre fuel tank and a two-piece seat with an 845 mm height, catering to both seated comfort and standing riding positions during off-road excursions. The GS Trophy variant distinguishes itself with a Racing Blue Metallic color scheme, accented with red and white, while the Base and Exclusive variants are available in Cosmic Black.
Chassis and Suspension
The bike's construction features a steel tubular frame with integrated forged parts, achieving a balance of strength and low weight essential for both road and off-road dynamics. Suspension duties are managed by USD front forks and a rear monoshock, both offering adjustable preload and rebound damping. This configuration ensures a comfortable and responsive ride across various terrains.
The F 450 GS rides on tubeless tyres fitted on cast aluminium wheels, with a 100/90-19 front and 130/80-17 rear setup. Braking is robust, with a 310 mm front disc accompanied by a Brembo 4-piston caliper and a 240 mm rear disc, providing effective stopping power.
Advanced Electronics and Features
BMW has equipped the F 450 GS with an impressive suite of electronics. Riders can choose from four riding modes: Rain, Road, Enduro, and Enduro Pro. The Enduro Pro mode is specifically tailored for challenging off-road conditions, featuring adjustable traction control and rear ABS deactivation. Safety features include ABS Pro for cornering, Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), Dynamic Brake Control (DBC), and Engine Drag Torque Control (MSR), enhancing rider safety and control.
A standout feature is the 6.5-inch TFT display, considered best-in-class, which provides multiple display modes such as 'Pure Ride' and 'Sport'. It offers detailed insights into lean angles, braking input, and traction control intervention. Additional features like heated grips, adjustable levers, and a USB-C charging port enhance touring comfort and practicality.
Pricing, Variants, and Financial Offers
The F 450 GS is presented in three variants: the Base model at ₹4.70 lakh, the Exclusive at ₹4.90 lakh, and the GS Trophy at ₹5.30 lakh (ex-showroom). These prices include GST and compensation cess but exclude road tax and other fees. BMW India Financial Services offers flexible financial solutions, allowing customers to purchase the F 450 GS with monthly installments starting at ₹9,999. Two special financial packages are available, offering comprehensive care and maintenance for three years.
This strategic launch underlines BMW's commitment to expanding its footprint in India's growing adventure motorcycle market. The F 450 GS will compete against models like the Honda NX500, Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, and KTM Duke 390, aiming to attract a broad spectrum of adventure enthusiasts.
With its blend of iconic design, advanced technology, and competitive pricing, the BMW F 450 GS is poised to become a popular choice among riders seeking a versatile and capable adventure motorcycle in India.
