Mercedes-Benz has relaunched its V-Class in India with a starting price of ₹1.4 crore, marking its return after a four-year hiatus. This luxury MPV is now available with fresh design updates, enhanced interiors, and new powertrain options, making it a formidable contender against rivals like the Toyota Vellfire and Lexus LM. Assembled locally at Mercedes' Chakan plant in Pune, the V-Class offers the longest wheelbase in any Mercedes model in India, promising unmatched space and comfort.

Exterior and Design Enhancements

The 2026 V-Class presents a significant visual upgrade over its predecessor, boasting a sleek AMG Line styling package as standard. Its imposing presence is accentuated by an illuminated grille and multi-beam LED headlights with integrated DRLs. The MPV's dimensions contribute to its commanding road presence, measuring at 5,370 mm in length and featuring a 3,430 mm wheelbase. Interestingly, it is equipped with 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, with a 19-inch option available in select markets.

The side profile is characterized by large, electrically operated sliding doors, while the rear features a split tailgate with an opening glass section for easy access to the boot. Five distinctive exterior color options, including Obsidian Black, High-Tech Silver, and Sodalite Blue, allow for personalized styling.

Luxurious Interior and Advanced Features

The interior of the V-Class is designed for opulence and versatility. It offers a choice between four- and six-seat configurations, catering to both chauffeur-driven and family-oriented customers. The four-seat layout includes two luxurious captain seats in the rear, complete with extendable leg supports and functions such as cooling, heating, and massaging. The six-seat variant provides flexibility with options for seats facing either the third row or a traditional forward-facing arrangement.

Mercedes-Benz has equipped the V-Class with a host of high-end features, including a Burmester 15-speaker surround sound system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and dual 12.3-inch displays for the infotainment and driver's instrument cluster. The absence of a sunroof is notable, although the vehicle compensates with other luxury touches like ambient lighting in 64 colors and heat-insulating glass.

Safety and Driver Assistance Technologies

Safety is paramount in the V-Class, which comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of features. It includes seven airbags, a driver-monitoring system, and a Level 2 ADAS suite. Additionally, the vehicle boasts a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control, and adaptive cruise control. The Euro NCAP has awarded it a five-star safety rating, underscoring its robust safety credentials.

Engine Options and Performance

The V-Class offers two powertrain options: a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with mild-hybrid assistance and a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine. The petrol engine delivers 231 PS and 370 Nm of torque, while the diesel variant provides 237 PS and 500 Nm of torque. Both engines are paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission, promising a smooth and efficient driving experience.

Mercedes-Benz has also introduced Airmatic air suspension with adaptive damping as standard, specifically tuned for Indian roads, enhancing the overall ride comfort and handling dynamics of this sizeable MPV.

Pricing and Availability

The 2026 Mercedes-Benz V-Class is priced uniformly at ₹1.4 crore for both the V300 petrol and V300d diesel variants. Despite its premium price, the V-Class offers extensive comfort and practicality, positioning it as a compelling option for luxury MPV buyers in India. Deliveries are set to begin by the end of March, giving potential buyers a fresh choice in the high-end people mover market.

Overall, the new V-Class combines Mercedes-Benz's hallmark luxury with the practicality of a spacious MPV, making it an attractive proposition for those seeking comfort and style in a chauffeur-driven vehicle.
