Maruti Suzuki Powers Up India's EV Revolution: Nationwide Charging Network and Epic 'e Drive' Launch
In a landmark move that's set to supercharge electric mobility across India, Maruti Suzuki India Limited has unveiled a comprehensive end-to-end digital platform for EV charging. Dubbed the 'e for me' ecosystem, it promises seamless home and public charging with integrated payments, backed by collaborations with 13 leading Charge Point Operators (CPOs) and aggregators. This isn't just infrastructure—it's a bold statement of readiness, complete with over 2,000 exclusive Maruti Suzuki charging points spanning the nationwide dealer network and plans to enable more than 1,00,000 public charging points by 2030.
A Unified Platform for Effortless Charging
Maruti Suzuki's new 'e for me' EV charging mobile app brings everything under one roof. Customers can handle bookings for home chargers right from vehicle purchase, locate public stations, initiate charging, and pay seamlessly via UPI or the exclusive 'Maruti Suzuki Money' powered by Razorpay. Available on Apple App Store® and Google Play™ Store, the app offers prospective EV owners a clear view of the national charging network, building trust before they even hit the road.
This platform addresses a core concern for EV adoption: range anxiety. In the top 100 cities, charging points sit at an average distance of 5-10 kilometers at key locations. Along major highways, DC fast chargers stand ready at regular intervals, enabling true nationwide driving freedom.
Strategic Partnerships Fuel Network Growth
- Historic agreements signed with 13 leading Charge Point Operators (CPOs) and aggregators for a single-platform experience.
- Over 2,000 exclusive Maruti Suzuki charging points accessible via the nationwide sales and service network in more than 1,100 cities.
- Extensive partner-operated pan-India charging infrastructure supplements Maruti Suzuki's own points.
- Ambition to enable 1,00,000+ public charging points by 2030 in collaboration with dealers and CPO partners.
The event in New Delhi saw Mr. Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO, and Mr. Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales, alongside senior dignitaries from the CPOs, formalize these ties. It's a network designed not just for coverage, but for confidence.
Leadership Voices the Vision
Mr. Hisashi Takeuchi emphasized the customer-centric approach: “At Maruti Suzuki, we strive to extend a delightful ownership experience to our customers to build lasting trust. Today, we are taking a historic step, as we enter the domain of electric mobility with full readiness to address the EV charging concerns and boost customer confidence. We have established a robust network of over 2,000 Maruti Suzuki exclusive charging points across our sales and service network, spanning more than 1,100 cities. Further, we have collaborated with 13 Charge Point Operators to offer access to a vast charging infrastructure across the country. Aligned with Suzuki’s global vision, we plan to introduce multiple EVs and to support this, our aim is to enable a network of over 1 lakh charging points across India by 2030, along with our Dealer and CPO partners.”
Mr. Partho Banerjee highlighted the ecosystem's depth: “Today is the dawn of a new era for electric mobility in India. It gives me immense pleasure to say that Maruti Suzuki is EV ready and will be ‘By Your Side’ with our comprehensive new platform that addresses key concerns around EV charging infrastructure. Leveraging India’s largest dealer network and our charging partners’ network, we are ensuring there are EV charging points at an average distance of 5-10 kilometres at key locations in the top 100 cities of India. DC fast chargers are also located at regular intervals along key highways to enable nationwide driving freedom for our prospective EV customers. To further enhance peace of mind, we have deployed a 1.5 lakh-strong specially-trained EV workforce to cater to every need of our customers. We have also activated 1500+ EV-ready service workshops across 1100 cities for meeting after-sales requirements to support EV ownership in every part of the country.”
The 'e Drive': Proving It Pan-India
To put the network to the ultimate test, Maruti Suzuki flagged off four e VITARAs from Gurugram, sending them in all four directions: north to Srinagar, south to Kanyakumari, west to Bhuj in Gujarat, and east to Dibrugarh. This 'e drive' isn't mere symbolism—it's a real-world showcase of the charging infrastructure's prowess, demonstrating pan-India feasibility for EV ownership.
As Mr. Banerjee added, “Words aside, we are showcasing the prowess of this platform by flagging off a radical ‘e drive’ that will demonstrate the real-world efficacy of Maruti Suzuki’s comprehensive EV charging network. With the ‘e drive’, we aim to boost user confidence and execute faster EV adoption, working alongside the nation’s sustainability goals for net zero.”
e VITARA: Battle-Tested for India and Beyond
At the heart of this initiative is the e VITARA Born EV, a made-in-India product already exported worldwide. Globally benchmarked, it has undergone rigorous testing over 1 crore kilometers in grueling conditions from 'Sand to Snow'.
- Tested across extreme temperatures: 60°C to -30°C.
- Consistent performance delivering a driving range of 543km* (for 61kWh battery pack, certified under Rule 124 (1)-28 of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989; results may vary based on actual driving, road, and conditions).
Developed for uniform customer experiences globally, the e VITARA pairs perfectly with the 'e for me' ecosystem to redefine EV ownership in India.

Maruti Suzuki hasn't stopped at charging. The company has transformed its operations for full EV support:
- Over 1,500 EV-ready service workshops across 1,100 cities.
